Really nice camera. I charged it when I got it and installed it with the solar cell in a place close by that is in the sun for at least half the day and have not had to take it down to charge it since. The charge stays at 100% almost all the time. I installed it with a 128Gb mini sd card and at the rate it is recording so far, I shouldn’t have to erase the card for probably another 6 months. I mounted it outside about 30 feet from my wireless wi-fi and have never had an issue. The video is very clear and the app is east to use and set up. Its also been nice to have recorded video without a subscription. That is an option though. Its a really good value for anyone needing or just wanting a good security camera.

Great Deal For All The Features And No Subscription
I bought this after looking at all of the common contenders like Ring & Blink, and avoiding the no-names, since who knows if they will be around in a few years. What sold me most is the ability to have all of the same features as a subscription service while storing it locally on an SD card. Since I recently had two SD cards from my previous Uniden mini-cameras (which all of a sudden stopped working, maybe they were too old and cut off?). So, my intention was to get a couple of mini cameras from TP-Link and save on the subscriptions as well as the SD cards.I decided to go with an outdoor model and Amazon had a great price on a previous return. So, I took my chances. All of the parts were intact and the battery was 100%. I just had to do a reset and connect to my WIFI with the Tapo App. Very easy to do. I WAS going to get the camera alone, since I wouldn’t mind charging it indoors every six Months or so, but for the minimal price difference, I got the Solar Kit, figuring that based on the reviews I’ve read, it seems to keep the battery pretty well charged.The setup only required drilling for three screws, the rest was hand tightened connections. Really, very simple to install.The ONE thing that confused me was the “Night Mode”/”Color Mode” setting. I wanted the light to come on with detection, which this does. BUT, the light will also come on if you open the app to see the camera in live view (or if you want to change any settings). I was afraid the light was going to stay on all night since I had the app open when looking at the camera. So, it works perfectly the way I want it to. There is another setting for Alarm, which flashes the light and/or makes an alarm sound. I did not want that, but it is an option.Overall I am very glad I spent a few extra dollars on an outdoor wireless WIFI battery model.

Can’t say enough good things about this camera! Love that it’s solar and doesn’t need to be hardwired. I subscribed to Kasa Care monthly to be able to save clips to the cloud. Easy to install and manage with the app. Very clear picture, decent audio too. To a of personalized settings in the app depending on what you want to record or capture.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:I really loved this camera so much I bought 2 of them and their doorbell for my house. The doorbell has been working flawlessly. The first camera IN installed with the solar panel worked fine until the first rain storm where it went offline and I could not get to it for a couple months as it monitors a vacation home. Once down there I was able to get the camera down, plug it in and after a couple chances it finally rebooted. Now the camera is is all fogged up and will not clear out. I reached out to Tapo support and after several AI generated emails from Tapo asking me about the solar panel I was able to get some traction with support where they told me I had to go through the RMA process of which they asked all the same questions that support did. I did put up my second camera in the same spot and it is working fine and I love the fact that it is solar powered. I would give the camera a higher review as I understand sometimes things break, but their support process was very painful to work with. Would I recommend this camera to everyone? Yes I would and I may buy more of them for my main house as well as back yards as I love the solar option… but I am very weary of dealing with TapoSupport again.Ease of setup:The set up was very easy to do and their instructions make it seem like it is harder than it really is. Recording capability:you can either use their paid cloud storage or I bought Micro SD cards from Amazon and just use those to record and saveStorage capacity:The 512 microSD cards are great and cheaper than subscribing to their cloud storageView angle:I love the fact that I have it on top of my 12 foot shed and I can see clearly down the side of the house and a nice wide angle to the bakc of the house and driveways. I love the AI feature where i can exclude animals from detection as we have a lot of wildlife in the area, mainly deer, fox, and other small creatures… but can also set the detection zone of where I want it to alert to motion or people.

Great camera quality
Great camera, very reliable with a very nice picture quality. We use the camera above our garage and it works beautifully. The solar panel keeps it charged all the time and eliminates the need for wires. The camera hooks to your cell phone with ease and allows you to be alerted when motion is detected.

1st try, wouldn’t connect to camera. Hit reset for 5 seconds and connected without problems. We’ve had cold cloudy and snowy days but the solar panel keeps it above 95% charge without issue. Very good quality video and night vision. Very happy. Works with cloud storage or SD card. Set up to see back porch and driveway back to alley. I also have the Tapo doorbell camera for the front door

Buena calidad cumplen lo que dicen, tengo dos cámaras de este tipo pero han dado un rendimiento muy diferente una está instalada con su panel solar en zona con mucho tránsito y está ha estado consumiendo mucha batería debido a la gran cantidad de notificaciones de hecho en la aplicación aparece una aviso relacionado a esto por lo que tuve que ajustar la configuración buscan reducir el bajo consumo de energía. La segunda camara está única en un pasillo de un edificio y solo alimentada por su batería 🔋y en una semana solo ha bajado al 96% mientras que la primera bajo de 100% al 80 y tantos porciento en un solo un día de funcionamiento, lo que nos indica que estás cámaras son para instalarse en zonas con bajo tránsito.
