Easy to use.
I bought this product because I wanted the option of being able to control the settings with my phone. Easy to install if you already have existing thermostat. Simple to operate and program. Not too fancy but meets my need. Highly recommend.

Simple but effective.
Had a thermostat linked to the security/automation system that failed after about 6 years. It was too expensive and failed simple things to get a replacement of the same kind. Wanted something that could be controlled remotely due to the wife leaving the A/C on after leaving the office for the day. Didn’t need Nest/Ecobee because we leave the windows open and she doesn’t walk in the hallway that often when working and we don’t want the “learning automation” to kick in the A/C or think no one was home. Geo fencing would not work for us. So we needed something simple, but remotely controlled. As a result we wanted something simple. Honeywell seemed to have the only reasonable options. I looked at the Honeywell unit that lets you talk to it directly, but the video of them showing the features make it appear painful to use and limited interface. Much easier to use a Alexa as the solution. This thermostat doesn’t have the voice control ability at the thermostat.Installation was easy. They provide stickers that are a great idea, but didn’t stick well enough to stay put as the wires were moved around. To make sure the A/C unit was not busted I hooked it up prior to putting it on the wall, while the old thermostat base plate was still screwed to the wall. That was a mistake. I couldn’t figure out how to unseat the wires after inserting them. Ended up busting some plastic on the wire connectors trying to pull them out and stripped insulation on the (already too) short wires. Did have an issue trying to stuff the wires into the wall and put on the thermostat. There is not much dead space for wires between the base plate and the thermostat.Very simple interface without many special features. People may like the changing of colors to match the wall colors. I don’t like that it will not automatically switch between heat/cool. I prefer something you set and forget about. I think the wiring instructions are just OK and might work for people, but I ended up using the Leviton thermostat’s manual to know what was going on for a heat pump wiring and making sure it was right. We have a heat pump with 1 stage cool/2 stage (electric) heat. There is not much you can configure in the setup for designing for your special wants. I like the circulate feature to allow the fan to run about 1/3 of the time (not changeable). This helps because we rarely use the A/C, but want the air to circulate to keep thing fresher and more consistent. The web interface (and alexa) are very simple and minimal. Although, I like the ability to receive alerts (don’t know if they work yet :-). I really like the ability to tell alexa (from the main floor) to set the temperature of the upstairs thermostat to a higher temperature to turn off the A/C without having to walk up there.Wish this had a temperature sensor. Also will not work in a dual heat, heat pump situation. Getting the internet outside temperature is really a waste. It is no were close to the actual outside temperature around here (and might be taking it from a city over an hour away from us). Using internet weather might work OK for people in the cities.First, it is easy to connect to the wireless network and connect the honeywell’s servers. However, we wanted the thermostat on the guest network and unable to access our local network (proper security and highly required). However the house is large enough that the main wireless router guest network is not consistently connected. The closer second wireless router Guest Network doesn’t work in the Access Point configuration without allowing it to connect to your local network (to get to the first wireless router). This is more of an issue with our environment and security needs rather than the thermostat. I highly recommend you do not allow the thermostat, or any Internet of Things appliance to be able to access your local network. Too large of a risk of being hacked by your appliances which are normally unsecured by the manufacturer.The unit seems to kick on the A/C more than the previous unit. Kicking it on and off more frequently rather than turning it on for longer but not as often. Attempting to set the temperature adjustment too several attempts before it matched an independent temp gauge. I think their programmer there missed a few test cases.Would recommend. Easy DIY install (assuming you have a C wire) in a few minutes. Simple hookup to internet. Great feature to interface to Alexa.
