Great but a little scary
This works so well. It makes easy work of small branches. My backyard gets overrun with weeds that basically grow into trees. I call them weed trees. This made such easy work of them. But it’s a little scary to use, it’s easy to get going fast and get on a roll. It’s very satisfying how easily it cuts, but you really need to make sure your other hand holding the branch is far away from the cutter. This cutter has some serious power and the cut happens fast. Go slow and take your time getting into position. If you need to hold the branch, keep your fingers and hand at a good distance.One thing I will note is that when you pull the trigger there is a spark or flash of light that you can see from the back. I didn’t know if it was normal or not so I contacted the company and was informed that it was normal.

Game changer
I really like these pruning shears! i have been using them to cut small branches, brush, etc. It is great I only have to use 1 hand – makes yard work so much easier. Battery life is good. I cannot recommend this enough.

Powerful and easy to use
These are great for pruning trees and bamboo. Over 100 cuts per charge. More powerful than expected!

My yard has become overgrown with small trees that love to volunteer. I actually strained my right hand from hours of use with a regular trimmer because there is SO much to cut. That’s why I researched powered trimmers. I chose this one since I already have some of the other B&D 20v MAX tools so have an array of batteries.I am blown away by how well this works! It effortlessly cuts through good-sized branches and small trees that would have been much too large for the manual trimmer and using the reciprocating saw was always jarring (and required more grip strength from me). While this is on the heavy side, I find I have no problem supporting the bottom where the battery is with one hand while squeezing the trigger with the other. The trigger requires almost no pressure which is great for me, but you should also be mindful of where the blades are because i could see where this would easily sever a finger.10/10 recommend! My only regret is not buying one sooner.UPDATE: One year into using this, it began making a loud clicking/banging sound. It has a two-year warranty so I contacted Black & Decker (no easy feat as their customer service was hard to connect with). Once I did reach a human, they were pleasant and once I submitted my receipt and a couple of photos of the tool, they said they were shipping out a replacement. This was great as I was thinking I’d have to mail it in for repair and wait. I had the new replacement in my hands within a week – and they even included a battery!I’m not sure if this is a common issue with this pruner or if I just got a wonky one. Either way, B&D stood behind it.

I have been using a small battery operated chain saw to trim branches from trees I have felled on my well forested property. This hand held trimmer allows me to work much more efficiently. The small chain saw can handle branches 3-4 inches in diameter. This pruner works well on branches up to 1 inch.Pruning small poplar seedlings which are spreading quickly are easily trimmed, so much easier than using the small chain saw or a hand powered pruner.I wish I had acquired this pruner much sooner.

Does what it is designed to do. It cuts very effectively and clean.
